"They'll never see it coming."
--Dressai Kalanter, sorcerer, upon discovering the Prophetic Bolt spell
|Alternate Names/Spellings||(f.) Sorceress|
Sorcery is almost as old as time itself, originating from the depths of the past when primitive tribes called upon guardian spirits for protection and wisdom.
Sorcerers generally seem dark or strange, bearing a strange and charismatic air. A sorcerer is a being for whom composure and appearance is everything.
Manipulative by nature and necessity, Sorcerers are rarely nice people. Gaining power through dark spirits or alien sources does that to a person.
While some gain power through learning or natural talent, Sorcerers feel the need to take the short route. Sorcery is the art of capturing spirits far more powerful than you and convincing them to share some knowledge or insight with you. It is the art of bluster, charm, manipulation and deals. While many Sorcerers deal with dark and twisted ghosts or unholy demons, not all do. Evil creatures often have more physical wants or needs than holy creatures or fickle fay. A demon may want a bloody sacrifice for magical knowledge, while an return to moral principles.
The types of spells a Sorcerer uses depend upon what entity they learned the spell from. Dark and twisted spells from Demons or Ghosts, bright and healing ones from Celestial Entities, charming and emotive spells from Fay.
Because of their persuasive ability, many Sorcerers are hired as exorcists or mediators.
