Origins
The Rusalka is a creature with origins in Slavic mythology, legend and folklore. The first Rusalka spirits were believed, by authorities, to be fertility spirits, Nymphet and/or Elemental in nature, such as a Nymph or a Merman, with a positive connection to water's important role in nature.
Most other Rusalka spirits, however, are known to be seductive undead, having arisen after meeting a violent and untimely fate in the waters of their native lands.
Some speculate that the term 'Rusalka' was once used for Mermaids or Nymphs of the land, who tended to the lands with their powers over the waters.
