Origins[]
The Kapre is one of a race of creatures with origins in the mythology, legend and folklore of the Philippines. The species' name is akin to the Arabic word 'kafir' (meaning a non-believer, in Islam). The term later gained wide usage in the Philippines when the Spanish arrived, after contact with the Muslim group, the Moors.
Appearance[]
This species' physical size just barely hits the threshold of what would be considered giant, by mundane standards. They range from about 7' or 9' tall. Their skin color ranges from swarthy tan tones to dark brown, comparable to an African. They often have long hair on their heads (either wavy, curly or woolly), thick body hair and tend toward huskier physiques. Facial features are most likely to be identified as either Filipino or African.
Also, notable, Kapre are exclusively male.
Behavior[]
The large trees of the Philippines are best suited to life for a Kapre; specific species that they prefer include banyan, bamboo, acacia and mango trees. These trees are ideal for the Kapre to rest in the branches of, or bask under the shade of.
