The Akateko is a creature with origins in Japanese mythology, legend and folklore. This folklore originates in the Aomori prefecture (located in the Tohoku Region), specifically in the city of Hachinohe.

It takes the form of a bloodstained or bright red infant's hand with long black fingernails hanging from a tree.
